she said MOM
01.29.06 (8:49 pm)   [edit]
my darling daughter said MOM!!!! I tried to be non-chalant as she ate her dinner...what a great job she did using her left hand, considering she is right handed! She had something that was chocolate. do you think either me or davie could get close? no fricken' way!! LOLOLOL!!!

Now, this is a reality makeover!!
01.27.06 (10:19 pm)   [edit]
April was delivered to the rehab facility. David has done, at least on a surface level, a great job of finding a clean and well maintained facility with what appear to be a very nice staff. They even have a "snack cart" that comes by in the evening for the patients. The main focus is REHAB so it is not just a Nursing Home! Today is a good day! Again, thank you all for your prayers...it is this, I am convinced, that has made this miracle possible! xoxox

do you believe in miracles
01.26.06 (10:31 pm)   [edit]
today, april had real (pureed and thikened) food). she wrote "april loves davie" with her left hand and "sasha". when i entered her room, she was sitting up in bed and said "hi". she also was saying "i don't think so" to about everything. LOL! she also said "i can sing songs" and proceeded to sing "somewhere over the rainbow" to my great surprise. now, mind you, we are music lovers, but not much in the singing department, especially the girl! she still stinks in the singing dept., but i would rather hear her rendition than anyone else's!!!!! i love this woman with all of my heart. she moves out of the hospital and into rehab tomorrow! miracle is that tomorrow is 2 weeks to the day this all started! i cannot even believe it myself!!!! xoxox mimi

so much pain and confusion
01.23.06 (9:51 pm)   [edit]
April's beautiful brown eyes are begging for answers and help. She has some congestion and is determined, despite the fact that she is receiving breathing treatments, to cough! It fricken hurts! The pain meds are clouding her progress, so it is difficult to know where she is, but when she is awake, her eyes beg for knowledge and help. Time cannot pass fast enough...can we fast forward about 6 weeks now so that her incision is healed and she can be more comfortable? Medically, she is doing well. All but the PICC have been removed. She is scheduled to have a "swallow" test and hopefully the NG tube can be removed and she can resume eating real food. As a tired out momma, the healing cannot come soon enough. But medically, they may even discharge her to a rehab center by the end of the week!!!! Yeah, April! She is already asking to go home and is now able to enjoy the flowers, baloons, stuffed animals and cards she is receiving! I know that all this would not be possible but for the love of her family and many friends praying and praying. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! xoxoxo

step down
01.23.06 (6:36 am)   [edit]
april, although miserable and in pain, has been stepped down to a PICU floor. Her physical therapy began on Saturday and now she will begin OT and speech therapy. pray for an abundance of strenght and healing for our gal, please. the family will continue to be there and amaze the staff. they are not used to seeing a "wall" of family determined to help their patients! they just hadn't met us!

good drugs
01.21.06 (11:18 pm)   [edit]
tonight april was loopy and very tired. the pt folks have started working with her already and she was just pooped! i got a kiss and some nods of understanding but no smiles. april's vocabulary is growing daily!

April's Smile
01.21.06 (11:07 am)   [edit]
I saw April last evening for just a few moments. Her eyes met mine and she smiled. i told her important things that a mom's heart feels and I told her for my life to be happy that I need her...she smiled and said, "I need you". My heart soared. I kissed her eyes, her nose and her lips and soared on angel's wings back to the waiting room and my family.

safely through open heart surgery!
01.19.06 (7:49 pm)   [edit]
April bravely faced open heart surgery today. Her life hinged on getting through this safely and she did it!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your prayers. Please don't stop now because we have a very long road ahead, but April is being my miracle girl and doing things that no one, including the doctors expected her to be able to do. I am so happy to have my baby girl still here with us! much love, mimi xoxox

need your help, please!
01.15.06 (12:35 pm)   [edit]
who knows how to contact alicia rose? please ask her to respond to me or to eamil me at tracy051775@earthlink.net...I need to get in touch with her ASAP...this is very important and I appreciate your help in finding her. my daughter is "sashasmomma"...to those of you who know/remember her, i will share thimy darling daughter, April, has suffered a massive stroke. the cause, we have learned, is some sort of benign tumor that has shown up in her beautiful heart. a piece broke away, clogged her corotid artery and resulted in this tragic situation. she is truly between a rock and a hard place...surgery is extremely dangerous and doing nothing leaves an opportunity for another massive stroke that would be fatal. please send out positive thoughts and/or prayers to your own personal higher powers for my family and for April's safe travel to be with Our Father in Heaven or for her miraculous return to us unscathed. s with you:
