10.30.06 (10:24 pm)   [edit]

I was trying to add this photo as an avatar and look what I managed to do!  Oh, Lord, you all will think your ole' Mimi is so vain!  I can't even get the photo to load to my images...

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated...but, in the meantime, enjoy a peek at what an ol' Mimi might look like : )

an angel a day can sometimes break the bank
10.29.06 (6:08 am)   [edit]
this working 6 days a week is not much fun, nor, for an ol' mimi like me, terribly easy...but! i managed to awaken to a dark and rainy morning yesterday...got up, got puppies fed and managed to get out the door...heading for the 5K walk i had committed to... i didn't dare take time to make coffee, for i knew i would dally too long...so on the way, i pulled in to get some fresh for on the road, only to run into a different type of delay... funny, how the angel's guide you...i pulled into a convenience store that i ALWAYS pass...the other's have gas that is less expensive..but today, needing only coffe and an easy and safe departure(traffic signal), i pull in...it, as i mentioned before, is dark and raining hard and for us central floridian's, we tend to get like "gremlin's" when wet and chilly... anyway, my first sight is of a young woman and a child. the child is in a stroller...the young woman in a short-sleeved T-shirt. at first, they are just sitting, sipping their beverage of choice...but then momma begins the struggle of trying to open the door and enter with said stroller and child. there were "men" standing in the way...coming out...i on the other hand was hoping to enter...i held the door for her..which opened a heartfelt diatribe from momma about how NO ONE ever offers to help...they just look! i told her i understand and smiled...she went on about her business as did i...i got my steaming cup'o and headed back to pay...momma was there asking if she could please use the store phone to call someone to ask for a ride..she didn't want to wait and try to take the bus but she needed to get to work and didn't really want to call off since she just started her job. naturally, without thinking or hesitation, i said "i'm heading to (fill in the blank), where do you need to go?" she told me and i said "i can get you there"...so, i paid for my "joe" and went out to my truck to clear the "stuff" from the seat and arrange a space for the stroller. loaded them up and off we went. i nodded and smiled through most of the "story of her life" and offered her just the slightest of advice...deliberate creation", positive vs. negative thinking and delivered her to her destination. she thanked me and hugged me and blessed me and off they went... so, i will pray for her and little "Coral" and the daddy that is in rehab...for the parent's that are surely over suffering the conseqences of their dauther's own decisions, and hope that she overcomes her obstacles...thank goodness i didn't offer her any other contact info, for that is what i tend to do and i always try to fix everyone... the point of my story is i figured out that i still want to fix the world, but i have learned that i can't and even though i want to try, i can only do what i can do...a ride, perhaps, but everything else, nope... i don't like putting restrictions on my heart, but the truth of the matter is, i have to protect my own heart and health and security. i don't like to be and don't want to be selfish, but being unselfish is what has caused your dear mimi to be in trouble herself and i can never allow that to happen again. so a free, warm, dry ride and a smile and a hug is all i gave away yesterday... and i made it the entire 5K! : )

first e-mail
10.27.06 (8:35 pm)   [edit]
today at work i opened my email and my poor boss must have thought i was crazier than he knows i already am! "boss, boss, come here! come here! it's important!!! come here!" he dashed out of his office and into mine with a concerned "what's wrong?!!!" i said LOOK! Look at my email! And there it was...my first email from APRIL!!!! simple and to the point..."Hi, MOM, How are you? I love you." she really rocks my world!!!! xoxoxo

sometimes i still "got it"!
10.24.06 (11:12 pm)   [edit]
i got to make dinner for my darling daughter and her hubby last night...don't know where i got the energy..this isn't anything i have done regularly in 9+ years! i basically quit cooking because my dearest hubby was so grateful for every meal i ever prepared, good, bad or indifferent...he never failed to let me know that "baby, you've outdone yourself" after every meal! going to the grocery took me years to get over...i would walk up and down the aisles and just cry...because Sam wasn't around to cook for...because i felt so sad for myself...my children were grown and didn't need me...i had no purpose! so, for some odd reason, when talking with darling daughter on the phone, hearing her say, "I misssss youuuu", i offered to get dinner to cook and she said ok... so, after work, i dashed (if you can ever dash here in central florida!) close to home, stopped and got what i needed, dashed to her house, let myself in and got started...first i got the apples pared, peeled and ready for the "crisp" topping and into the oven...started the water to boil, sliced some of sil's fav cukes, and cleaned that up. that's about when they arrived home from one of her many therapy sessions...to the fragrant aroma of apples and cinnamon! : ) prepared her favorite "tilapia", fettucine alfredo, brocolli spears...and she "ummm'd" throughout the entire meal...even hubby said nice things...neither are big eaters, but some "mom" cooking was a big hit. they eat out a lot and use an extra amount of "prepared" foods these days...needless to say...so this was greatly appreciated...maybe that's all i need is to be needed and appreciated...sure made me feel great! as an update, her vocabulary is increasing all the time and she is working hard learning her letters and numbers...they work in her head, just don't always connect to her voice or her hand...she is writing very legibly with her left hand and i have seen her tie her shoes with one hand! she is an incredible and very innovative, beautiful woman! that's my daughter! xoxoxo
