wow! it has been a busy week! april and her d/h went away to visit his family up north. sasha went to stay with brother and d/sil...friends fed the goats, cat, fish until Thursday...i was assigned the pool and spa...every other day, go by and make sure the water level was up and that the breaker hadn't gone off on the spa. that turned into a "few days at the resort" for new b/f and me...we would meet there, have a swim and cook out, enjoying the patio and the lovely, quiet evenings...until we both ended up sick! i have a lousy cold and he got a tummy bug...but it was wonderful while it lasted.
april will be back on monday...i sure have missed her! bet your bottom dollar, b/f and i will be wishing they go away a lot this summer! :O

Can You Tell By …
Can You Tell By watching how children treat their parent, what kind of person the parent is? If so, my fella must be a pretty decent guy. His children teased and played with him and their grandparents, but never got too carried away or disrespectful at all. They had brought their father a very nice gift and card and remembered their grand-father, as well. They were polite and offered up intelligent conversation. They had lovely manners at the dinner table, too. I was very happy to meet them and they made me feel very comfortable and welcome.
yeah! my a/c is repaired. now to figure out how to clean the coils and blower wheel without spending hundreds of dollars!
i have been invited to meet my fella's children...a son and a daughter! i am not nervous, but a little anxious. i mentioned to a friend that i was going to meet the children and she, in her usual negative way said "no child wants to see their father with another woman". i, on the other hand, have been part of an "integrated" family for so long and i know that my children are grateful for the chance at happiness their father had, had not considered this. i believe that if they are good people, and i am a good person, it should be fine. also, their mother is remarried and they like the husband, so again, i say, i am not nervous. : ) well, maybe just a little.

It's summer here in Central Florida and my A/C went out! EEEGads! The service people can't be here til FRIDAY! My hair...My Makeup!
Darlin' son-in-law came by today and installed a window unit so me and the puppies can sleep! Thank God for family!
Otherwise, all is well with the family and the fella...he's been a jewel...treats me like a princess...thinks I am all that and a bag 'o chips! Met his parents this weekend...: ) OMG! This could be serious! LOL! xoxoxo
can a person really, really know that they love someone the first time they meet? i knew i was "crazy" about sam right off the bat, but i don't think i knew that i was "in love" for a short while, but it would be the closest thing i know to "love at first sight". the new man says "he is in love with me"! he knows it scares me, but as i am getting to know him and i see how he is with me, i feel like perhaps my prayers have been heard. he is kind and thoughtful and attentive and he LISTENS to me. he is affectionate and caring and he calls me on the phone, sometimes morning and night. (not enough to get that bad feeling, i might add)...he calls to make sure i am awake for work and he calls to say goodnight...he even asks me to call and let him know i arrive home safely should we have happened to meet somewhere : ) sam was like that : ) i like the nice ways he shows me that he cares....
I have been working with April on Monday and Thursday evenings with her reading. Most of the time, by the time I get there, it is around 6:30 or 7 pm…she is generally tired and hungry. She has already put in a full day of therapies and/or house and/or yard work. If we are lucky, we squeeze in 15-20 minutes of reading and she is too tired to be on top of her game, which frustrates and disappoints her.
Yesterday was no exception, except that she had a half hour nap. When I arrived at 6:30, she had a nice dinner going. We ate and visited and then cleaned up the dishes. She is doing so well in the kitchen. Mind you, she only has the use of her left arm and hand. She is cooking and understanding directions on packages! It appears that the difficulty is in getting the words from the inside out.
After dinner, she took some small “traffic cones” to show me how she is stepping sideways over them, back and forth, strengthening both legs and remembering to bend her knees. Then she used her “step” to stretch and strengthen her weak ankle. All of this is relatively simple if you are able bodied, but her right side is affected, so she needs to practice, practice, practice.
The really important part of this story is that I had printed out a very cute, silly story about a pig that entered a cooking contest at a county fair. The pig’s recipe included a drumstick. The contest was being judged by “chicks” so of course, he did not win. I chose the story because it used words like “spinach pie” and peacock and familiar words that apply to our life generally, cooking, spoons, dishes, stuff like that.
It has been hard to find things to read that are not insulting to April’s intelligence. So, I held up the first page and April started picking out words and sounding out words! She actually was READING! So much improvement! I got so excited and happy! April said “what’s wrong?” I told her “YOU ARE READING!” She said “I know” : ) Isn’t this great!
andrea wrote a new post! it is so wonderful to know she is doing so well! sitting here thinking about all those who have come and gone...those that are missing in action. i know that i take breaks for one reason or another, but some, like my daughter, cannot come in and check in, yet. but, sometimes, i just miss some of the friends i have made over the years. i wonder how they are.
